Nigerian equities’ bullish momentum strengthened, with the NGX ASI surging 16.6% on portfolio rebalancing, strong earnings, and dividend expectations. Oil & Gas and Industrial Goods led the rally, while market activity improved significantly.
In the Treasury Bills market, strong liquidity and expectations of monetary easing supported robust demand, particularly for longer-tenor bills. Average NTB yields declined 95bps to 17.39% following improved sentiment and the MPC’s 50bps rate cut. FGN Bonds recorded a strong performance as easing rate expectations and lower-than-expected inflation supported buying interest. Benchmark yields fell by 100bps to 15.42% despite some late-month profit-taking.
