AIICO BALANCED FUND NEWSLETTER – MARCH 2026
OVERVIEW
AIICO Balanced Fund is an open-ended mutual fund, investing in Fixed income instruments, Money market instruments and both Quoted and Unquoted equities.
INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE
The investment objective of the Fund is to create medium to long term capital growth as well as yearly income streams from declared dividends for unit holders. The fund also provides investors with the opportunity diversify their investments into products that would hitherto have been more difficult to invest in.
FUND PERFORMANCE
The AIICO balanced fund closed the month of March ’26 with a YTD return of 13.05%
Nigerian equities extended their winning streak for a fourth consecutive month, with the NGX ASI gaining 4.4% and briefly crossing the 200,000-point mark. Gains were led by Industrial Goods and Oil & Gas, although market breadth weakened amid increased profit-taking.
In the Treasury Bills market, Investor demand remained strong, particularly for 364-day bills, with primary auctions consistently oversubscribed. However, profit-taking and selective repricing pushed the average NTB yield 19bps higher to 17.58%. The bond market turned more cautious as investors balanced attractive real yields against profit-taking and lingering post-rate-cut adjustments. Benchmark yields increased by 29bps to 15.71%.
